How to get to Ishigaki Island
The Ishigaki Airport is the second largest airport in Okinawa, after the Naha Airport. All flights coming in and out of the Ishigaki are domestic, except for a few charter flights from Taiwan. The Ishigaki Airport is located within 10 minutes of the downtown area, so this allows easy access for tourists.
Okinawa Prefecture consists of many small islands surrounding the mainland of Okinawa, and Ishigaki Island is the main travel hub to get to rest the Yaeyama Islands.
To get to Ishigaki Island, you can either take a non-stop flight from most of the major cities in Japan or make a connecting flight at Naha.
All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Japan Transocean Airlines (JTA) are the only two airline companies that serve Ishigaki Island. Ryukyu Air Commuter (RAC) of JAL Group also provides flight services between Yonaguni Island and Ishigaki Island by small aircraft.
The Yaeyama Islands are located to the southwest of Japan. They are approximately 3,000km from Tokyo and only 260km from Taiwan. These islands are actually closer to Taiwan than to Okinawa?s main island (It is only 400km away!)

How to get to the other islands from Ishigaki Island
From the Ishigaki Ferry Terminal, you can take a high-speed ferry to the Yaeyama Islands (Taketomi Island, Kohama Island, Kuro Island, Iriomote Island, Hateruma Island, Hatoma Island, and Yonaguni Island).
Be careful because there is a commercial port that is used by both cruise ships from Taiwan and shipping vessels. Tourists often confuse this terminal with Ishigaki Port Terminal (for Cruise Ships), so please make sure that you get to the right terminal.
There is also an Information Counter for English and Chinese speaking tourists in the Ishigaki Ferry Terminal.
