Summery of Ishigaki
Ishigaki Island is the main travel hub of the Yaeyama Archipelago. From there you can take direct flights to Yonaguni Island (the westernmost island in Japan) or occasionally to Taiwan. Moreover, you could also hop on a ferry and go to Hateruma Island (the southernmost island in Japan) or travel to any of the other surrounding islands that make up the Town of Taketomi (Please see our section on Beautiful Islands).
There are many things to do on Ishigaki as well. Ishigaki City is the largest city in Yaeyama and it is full of delicious restaurants and taverns (izakaya), bars, night clubs, and venues for traditional Okinawa and Yaeyama music. Outside of the city, there are many scenic views and places to enjoy the nature of this sub-tropical paradise.

Introduction of Designated Beaches
Although Ishigaki has many beautiful beaches, some of these beaches are not safe for swimming. Most beaches do not have life guards and there are strong currents. In late summer you should also be careful about swimming at beaches without nets because this is the jellyfish season. For your safety, please use the beaches we have specified here.

Yaeyama Souvenirs and Local Products
There are many unique souvenirs, local products, and ethnic foods that can only found in Yaeyama. The most popular of these products are Ishigaki Beef, Ra-yu (a type of chili oil), and Awamori (Okinawan sake). Itfs fun to go shopping on Ishigaki Island!

Beautiful Islands
The Yaeyama Archipelago is found about an hour by plane south west of the Okinawa Main Island. The main travel hub within this archipelago is Ishigaki Island. From here you can travel to many of the beautiful and exotic islands which surround Ishigaki. These include Yonaguni Island, Taketomi Island, Iriomote Island, Kohama Island, Hateruma Island, Aragusuku Island, Kuro Island, Hatoma Island, and Yubu Island.
